HoverDash reborn: the VX-9 Phantom update
HoverDash — our neon lane runner — just got its biggest overhaul since launch: a brand-new ship, a rebuilt scoring system, honest collisions, and a fresh leaderboard where everyone starts from zero. Today.
Meet the VX-9 Phantom
The old ship is retired. In its place: the wine-red VX-9 Phantom — a larger delta wing with an angular V-tail, integrated canopy, engine detailing and navigation lights, rendered procedurally and animated to respond to how you fly. There's a new Garage tab with an interactive model preview, plus a ship aura, engine particles, speed vignette and Overdrive feedback. The tunnel got its darker contrast back, and the music-reactive wall visualizers have returned.
Fair scoring — and a fresh leaderboard
Scoring is now three transparent parts: distance + coin points + style points, so ramp tricks and daring dodges pay off visibly instead of through hidden multipliers. Collisions got honest too — floor saws require a real jump and ceiling saws a real duck, with proper physical checks instead of forgiving overlaps. Because the new scores aren't comparable with the old multiplier-era records, the global leaderboard starts over on a clean board today — first run in is the one to beat.
Plays better everywhere
Complete keyboard and gamepad navigation across every menu, tab and the game itself. On mobile: a safe-area-aware HUD, a dedicated pause button, touch-safe controls — and a new Effects setting (Auto/High/Medium/Low/Off) with adaptive resolution so it runs smoothly on weaker phones too. Named wave themes, Perfect Dodge validation, visible combo progression and Overdrive round out the run.
There's also a fresh YouTube Short of the new ship in action — the tunnel fights back, in 22 seconds.
